Barbara Wexler

Presentation Topic:  "Experiential Learning for Students with Complex Disabilities."

 

 

Barbara Wexler has worked for the last twenty-six years in post-secondary education.  Currently in her seventeenth year at Ramapo College, Barbara has also worked at Portland Community College, in Portland, Oregon and a proprietary school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.       

 

Since 2002, Barbara has served Ramapo students as a Career Development Coordinator where she works with all students affiliated with disability services on career related issues and monitors their progress in achieving career related goals.  She works primarily with students in their senior year of college, but also teaches a pre-career development course to students with undeclared majors.

 

Prior to 2002, Barbara was an academic counselor for thirteen years. Her academic caseload included students with sensory, orthopedic, physical and neurological disabilities.

 

Barbara has successfully completed career education classes from the NYU Continuing Education program and is currently enrolled in the Mental Health Counselor Master’s program at Capella University.  Her objective is to offer private career planning to teens and adults with disabilities using mental health counseling as a foundation as well as enhancing her professional work at Ramapo College.

 

Barbara earned her Master of Arts degree in Special Education at San Francisco State University where she also earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Social Sciences.
